Jeff Sadoff and Jeannie Zoellner-Gonzalez were awarded a Fund For Teachers Grant to study WWI in Belgium and France. We are both Social Studies teachers at Andrew Jackson Language Academy. Our journey will include a guided Battlefield Tour on the Western Front as well as our own exploring of Brussels, Antwerp, and surrounding sites to enhance our understanding of the Belgian culture and the effects of WWI still visible today.
Adding to our excitement about our upcoming journey is a visit to our school from the Ebony Doughboys! The Ebony Doughboys are reenactors of African-American troops serving in WWI. Our 6th and 8th graders (as well as we teachers!) were riveted by their presentation!
